laser diode pin identifying help?

I'm about to get my diodes by mail today, and then I will make my first build, but how do I know which pin is positive/negative? Its a red diode

If you point the triangle of the pins upwards, the one of the left is the positive pin. Depending on which diode you are getting, either the pin on the top will be negative or the pin on the right will be negative.

You need to be specific, what red diode? They aren't all the same. Also be aware that some are case negative.

I suspect it's an LPC-815, LPC-825 or LPC-826. But if it's none of those, don't take my advice.

it is a Mitsubishi ML101U29-25
I took your advice, it worked, but it cant burn anything, i'm running it at 340 mA, could that be why?

yes I do, I just neglected to realize my shakiness and haste, I think I expected too much from a 250mw red. it makes marks in a cd case, i'll do the match test in the morning
