Alright cool. I seriously need to have someone freeze my computer, credit cards, and cash in a block of ice. Maybe then I won't spend like a mad man

I got one designed now, but you'd have to place and align your own optics. Will post pics then.

Ped, you gonna go for a 520/635 SM handheld? I'm getting tired of people combining diode/dpss together--

Head screws onto Maglite, front cover attaches to heatsink with 2 screws, heatsink slides into head, and is retained by two small set screws.
This is using a 2D maglite battery tube.

How does it look Ped?

I think if I was going to do it i would consider the 520 diodes , not sure about the 635's though because of the beam specs.

And yeah Mrcrouse that looks pretty good, when I have the money I'd definitely be intetrested.

I was thinking about this last night..

I managed to get my hand on the latest 3d modelling software from a friend in UNI and rendered the following image..

Can you make that?

Dichro would be better for that purpose :)

Better transmission.

I'm not talking the multimode 635's, I was under the impression the SM diodes had pretty good specs..? Plus they don't have the wings the 650's do.

And yes, you don't want it polarized with diodes. Polarized with DPSS is fine, but diodes have a fast axis you need to deal with, matching those up with a dichro would be perfect.

ARG, suggestion on how much space should be in front of the modules for optics, as well as how low the bench should be milled below centerline? The modules are .75" apart center to center.

Also, is anyone interested in the twin diode design? (Two separate lasers) If so, I'll have one made. I'm guessing a cost of $150.

Found some nice stainless steel switches that will really set off the twin laser host. Used the drawing to make an approximate model of them and added them to the assembly. Looks pretty sharp:

Thoughts?
