Hi guys,

Thought I'd start a thread with some Beam Shots I've taken using some different diodes, wavelengths! :D

I'll start with some from a Post i made in another thread - it got buried pretty quick ;)

Enjoy

Here's alittle something unique....i believe i was one of the first to successfully get a 1W 445nm Arctic into Australia, this is going back about ~6 years from now...and a beam shot

Nice pictures! That's pretty cool, you got a sky light to shoot your beams out of, must be nice. Enjoy and thanks for sharing the pictures. :gj:

Very nice beam shots, jrnpop. I am a fan of the 503nm diodes too. Did you get one of those, or did you get the 510nm ones? Thanks for sharing them here.

Great beam shots ! What kind of camera do you use and what are your settings ?

BTW I keep having the urge to click the cancel button on your avatar ! :D

Canon EOS 650D, manual setting but can't remember the specifics, they where set on the night, ISO/F/AT?

 I had a break from LPF for about 4 years, came back and that Avatar was the first thing i saw when i logged in......i still love it!

Really nice!

By the way, what 505nm are you using??

Hi A,
Its the EC91,
But i have to say its got to be pretty close to 505, huge difference from the 520nm. And the 520nm is running at 150mA, not really overdriven much.

Settings on the camera are the same for all the photo's except the last one....that was taken about 6 years ago on a 'who knows what' smartphone :D

Re: Beam Shots - Jnrpop

I have a real problem with getting clean beam shots while still seeing the back ground for context....... :banghead:

You don't seem to have that problem at all........

Re: Beam Shots - Jnrpop

Those SB147EC91s were measured to be between 508nm and 510nm. It would still look different than an over driven 520nm as the 520nm would be at least 520nm if not higher.

Definately abit of green in it Paul,
But i doubt all the SB147EC91s that exist out there measure between 508-510nm, 2nm isnt alot of range for a green diode. This diode was running at 80mA, just above threshold

Hi A,
It took awhile to get the exposure correct, i'm definatly not a photographer but its quite amazing the raw photos you can take with alittle time messing around on the manual setting :D

I figured it was all in the setting but i don't know anything about camera setting at all...... :yabbem:

Youtube and time

no.... there is only 3 main variables: ISO, F (focal aperature size) and Exposure time.....but learning more about each of these is all part of the fun :D

viel spaß :D

Re: Beam Shots - Jnrpop

I'm sure there are some that measure a bit lower, but these I measured were at the same current, 200 mA, and were from 507.9nm to 510.2nm. I did round off for simplicity. I do doubt any are as low as 505nm, though.

Thanks, I think it's time for me to enroll in youtube camera school ! I wish they had a video specifically for taking laser beam shots !
