Pretty dumb move on the part of the diode seller. Anyone who is looking for a 635nm diodes is going to know how to tell that its not. Now they have just trashed any credibility they had.

If he ships these to me anyway, he'll be receiving at the very least a negative feedback. If he gives me a hard time, will do PP dispute and negative feedback calling him a liar.

They have not been shipped yet so I know he can cancel it.

We might want to have Cyparagon run one of these through the ringer. I believe what I am being told and im sure its not 638nm but you have a much stronger argument when you can post a picture of the wavelength reading than just saying "it doesnt look like 635nm".

EDIT: Just want to add: Thanks Lazeerer for taking the plunge! Cant win them all. Cross your fingers for the 500mWs.

Well they can't be what they're claiming because of the pin configurations. I believe the 638's are different than the 650's.

Also, did you make sure to meet the minimum threshold current?

I'm aloud to have my conspiracy theories.

No, you are allowed to sit down and shut up.

You have done nothing but accuse other people of "buying all the diodes" while you patiently sit and wait for either good or bad results. If you are not going to put up some cash to test this stuff out then you need to be quiet until others are kind enough to share their results with the forum.

Your useless posts and accusations in this thread have pushed me too far. You've made it quite clear to me that you have no idea what you are talking about, numerous times.

This is a Laser Community, not a "Lets all test diodes for Fenzir so he doesn't have to waste his money, but in the meantime he will accuse everyone putting their own money on the line of stealing all of the diodes for themselves." community.

And as far as accusing me of "buying the seller out," Obviously you don't know who I am. If I was to get a good source of diodes I would sell them at cost until a-holes like you started to take advantage. Check my history, you'll see what I mean.

-1 coming your way.

/rant

I still have high hopes for the 120mW diode, the other 638nm diodes were abandoned because of the massive die making the beam even worse than the 445 diodes. Both of my 120nm diodes have the optic in the exact same orientation, perhaps it is some sort of FAC lens to compensate for the extra long die.

I have ordered one of each of the following;
100mw 638
120mw 638
500mw 638
600mw 650

If they all appear to be the same color that isn't even close to 635nm, I'll be running them as high current as I can so we can see where they die out at seeing as they aren't anything interesting.

Considering he was measuring the output on a LPM... I'd say he was exceeding the threshold. heh

Deep down, I know :(

I was just somehow hoping they'd drop in wavelength with a higher current, even though we all know higher current increases wavelength :'(

So the 200's and 500's are huge emitter? Are they at least actually 638's?

Argh, I don't know what to do! I ordered the 200mW versions and I'm on the fence on what I should do with the damn things. I hate these morons on eBay that false advertise things.

I have an idea for a build that requires a couple of the higher powered reds, specifically the 500mw and 600mw (either wavelength, even though I don't think thay're 638) ones assuming they can come close to that output. The beam dimensions don't have to be all that great, but the output has to be there. If we can run them at 450mw I'd consider buying them from you guys at $16 a piece.

The only known 638 high powered diodes have the huge die, they are 300mW and 500mW Mitsubishi diodes IIRC. They were deemed useless on PL because of the horrible beam as well as the cost.

I guess it might be possible that the 200mW and 500mW diodes are these Mitsubishi diodes, but I would not get your hopes up. My 200 and 500mW 638 diodes have not come yet, it appears that e_station and Esellstation are the same seller, the diodes I bought from both sellers shipped together. The other diodes (from buyhubforu) have not arrived yet.

Buyhubforu was a good seller at one point, perhaps his diodes are what they say they are...

Edit: Someone on PL has some of the 500mW diodes. Little more patience guys...

Video is Up.:)

From Right to Left.

65mW 658nm LPC-826 , 51mW 638nm? , 21mW 635nm

What do you guys think. The 2 on the left look the same in WL.? The one in the middle is the "638nm? in question" You can see a slight difference from the 635nm on the right.

We'll see I guess. I kind of knew it was too good to be true. I guess I'll just have to be happy with my 40mW 635 for now.

Actual dot pictures would be helpful. You can use a polarized lens like those you get at a 3d movie to dim the beams some, it may make it easier to tell them apart if they are all the same brightness.

You would be able to tell the difference though, 635 to 660 is a big leap.
