That looks like the 10mW module I am running now, the same as the two I have killed recently...

The top sensor is a photo transistor used to regulate the DPSS based on light output. See here:
http://laserpointerforums.com/f45/dpps-green-module-anatomy-52057.html I asked the same question just a few days back.

How did you kill it?

PS, does your camera not have a macro function? Your image looks like I forgot to put my glasses on!

lets say i have a brand new green laser module and i cut those two wires will i still see the 532 light?

^That could be risky unless you can specifically identify the module, sensor, driver setup and someone here knows it also. The two extremes are that the sensor could shut everything down as it receives no power and you won't get any light; or that it receives no input and jacks the current to maximum where you might get light for a very short time and then your diode could pop. There are plenty of places to get relatively cheap, high or low power green modules without these sensors. Or you could just get a linear driver designed for green DPSS modules and set a fixed constant current. Have a look in the, 'Companies', and, 'Reviews', section to choose a source.

Plenty more help available too.
