I gotta get a new multimeter before I can check but I'll be glad to volunteer. Maybe we can swap out the pots for something with a more aggressive range and get 150-200mw from these bad boys. Maybe aixiz sells all of their lab lasers with the same internals, just set different. Kind of like some processors for computers. Overclocked from the factory.. lol..

I doubt the diodes pumping the crystal is very strong. If they are selling them as 50mW they will usually be a bit above that and in our case, quite a bit, but I don't see them going much higher than 150mW if at all for any decent length of time. Also as someone said in the other thread on these units, they are not IR filtered so a lot of the light is invisible anyway.

Where is this link about it not being filtered? :-(

I hope its putting out 100+mw of green. :p

Not sure how much green it's putting out. If I had an IR filter handy I'd test it. The green is noticeably brighter than my DX30, but I'm not sure exactly how much that is putting out either. Just as a guess I would say my labby is putting out somewhere between 60-120 mW of green. That range is so large for a couple reasons. One, the measurement I made was on an optical meter that seems to be way off judging from checking my bluray measurements against some other member's bluray measurements using thermal meters and two from the lack of IR filtering. Once I can get my hands on a thermal head I will retest it or I may just send it to one of the members when I send my bluray to get tested. I'll have my 600mW labby by then so I won't miss this one much while it's gone. Even if this thing is only putting out 60mW of green though, it's still a good deal for $70.

I have a 720nm cutoff filter so I can videotape exactly how much IR is coming out of the laser when mine arrives. Ill post a video so you can see its IR output.

That will be nice to see. I look forward to the results.

as requested, here is a video of the green module burning a wad of electrical tape.

Disma, did you focus it for that distance? I haven't tried twisting my lens yet, and I can't burn black tape. It is obvious though that it is not a fine dot. Also I measured my max power on the aixz green labby at 90 mw with my laserbee LPM, and then at 6 mw less with the IR filter I have. If that is the truth, I would say that that is not too bad on the IR side.

I would, however, think that 90 mw should burn if it was focused.

DJ :) :) :)

no, it was focused for infinity... collimated beam. Another problem might be if it isn't running in tem00 which I noticed that mine sometimes changes modes if I mess with the pot. I have ordered a total of 4 of these lasers from aixiz and the last package they sent me had only one laser in it when I had ordered 2 more. I am currently waiting for a reply from them about this problem.

Re: awesome lab quality 50mw modules for 65.00+5.0

I just tested the last one they sent me, and it is running some odd mode WAY ABOVE tem00.  Now I am NOT HAPPY with them. First the missing laser. And now this. If you got one thats doing this, then that would explain why you cant do anything with the beam...

Re: awesome lab quality 50mw modules for 65.00+5.0

Ok, ive been messing with this last one, and I got it to run tem00... I had to have the pot set at a certain level for it to do it... On the meter its doing 95mw now.

I also have to turn it on and off while adjusting the pot to get tem00 every time I turn this one on. I hope this is the dog at the bottom of the pile, and no one else gets one like this.

I got two the first one is more powerful than the other one that i got 2 weeks after and have you tested you drivers to see the difference in mA?

Re: awesome lab quality 50mw modules for 65.00+5.0

no, but I tried switching the drivers around. It didn't make any difference.

added: I didn't test them with my multimeter to see if the current was the same though.
has anyone checked to see what current these run at yet?

Re: awesome lab quality 50mw modules for 65.00+5.0

Ok, I just talked with aixiz, they said that if the laser is mode hopping, they would send me another one when I return this one... and they said they are shipping me another laser for the one I am missing. now, im not so upset. :)
