Probably 40W or so, and probably no beam expander. Usually lasers of such high powers have huge beams to begin with, and by the time they reach the audience, they've already diverged a heap.

40W huh? That's quite a lot. Where would I get something like that? The highest ive found on the web is 20w green. It doesn't necessarily need to move around and such.

You're looking at thousands on thousands of dollars for 40W of 532

Right.. I know.. Somewhere in the $20,000 range new. Or a bit less for a LASERSCOPE YAG KTP 50W 532nm. I just want to know where to get this stuff. I've searched all over the net so far. Nothing is obvious for the application.

haha! Well do they ever get more powerful? I digress to the experts.... I want one who's beam can be seen for miles. I dont even know if it will happen with a 40W...

You can get miles with 100mW of 532. I have seen red laser pointers of only a few mW from 10000 feet scream past and keep going (I'm aircrew in the AF) Still trying to get them to let me shine one out of the plane to tue ground and scare the crap out of people on the ground hahah.

I can see the beam still. I think you will only be able to see it for so long regardless of power. My 9mW and 800mW 532 appear to "stop" at the same distance when I shine them side by side into the night sky.

The big problem with 50W of 532 is... what will you point it at? When you turn the thing on, anything you point it at will burn. That means carpet, wall paint, chairs, furniture, etc.
