Hi guys, I'm looking for a particularly powerful portable laser and would like some expert opinions on my options. Heres what I'm looking for specifically:

High power level in terms of mW, higher the better.

Short wave length, shorter the better.

Generally a decent battery life with no startup time like the massive ones have.

I've came across the 600 mW laser from o-like, heres the link:

600mW Portable green laser IR filtered£>250~500mw Portable green laser£>Laser&lighting products£>www.0-like.com

and its the strongest one I've found so far. Is there anything more powerful in a similar size at all and where would I be able to obtain one, thanks.

ok for one thing these are gauranteed -did i spell that correctly-lol
to put out an average of say like mine 375 mw well mine does over 400 and for a while 500+ mw it has no duty cycle so it can be ran pretty much constant
the olike is not as good quality sorry suzie lol ok so my RPL with a 2.5 n-lite diode
puts out 565 peak is it a rpl 550 -no it averages 400ish for several minutes so jack labels it a rpl 375--ok the olike may hit 600 for a few seconds so its called a 600
i dont think so i'm not here to put down o-like im just saying optotronics has up to a 1.5 year warranty for a reason THEY ROCK also Jack has the best Customer service on this planet and yea he's in Colorado USA - and usually gets your laser to you in two to three days

Serious is that how they measure the mW for o-like? Damn that sucks, it sounds almost too good to be true, I haven't seen a 600mW handheld anywhere else, most ads peak at 400.

no i'm not positive on that but thats usually the case for a lot of re-sellers its just
Jack O niel backs his stuff 100% if its not spec for some reason or loses a bit of power
I have seen him send an upgraded higher output model for the trouble -hasn't happened to me though -Hey JACK MY RPL 375 ONLY PUTS OUT 400mW HELP ok didn't work i say go with jack you'll be happy

If you're willing to do a build, you could pick up an 8x Blu-Ray burner and stick the diode in a handheld. It would be expensive, but for the potential of over a half watt of 405nm, it could be worth it. Shortest wavelength, highest power, and the simplicity of a diode (no DPSS to mode-hop or become mis-aligned.)

The major components would be an 8x BR drive (~$200,) and a high powered AR lens assembly (~$60,) Like I said, a pricey project, but worth it.

Optotronics seems to have a better divergence and all the other perks as everyone has said but if you want a little cheaper you could get in our group buy. Basically you can get the same lasers as the Aries from Laserglow or Hulk Ultra from Dragon lasers and more.

We're placing a huge order from CNI the main sponsor of this forum for discounted prices, Check out our thread http://laserpointerforums.com/f55/cni-gb-last-chance-thursday-3-26-a-39838-12.html

I would like to try optotronics in the future, probably after christmas :) My parents still give me monies

Have you guys ever considered a beam focusable portable laser from the guys at skylasers? They're running some sort of promotion at the moment and a 400mw green ir filtered portable laser is only $999.99. If you contact them directly, I bet you can get them to remove the ir filter to get higher outputs...

Here's a quick link to their site: Portable Lasers - Green Portable Laser by SKYlasers

Im getting a 300mW for $480. Seems pretty good to me...its basically an aries too. I probably cant leave it on for 20 minutes like a "true" Aries but why would i have to leave a laser on for that long?
