hey, my school just got a laser cutter
it is a VLS3.60 ( VLS 3.60 - Universal Laser Systems )
50W co2
i left my camera at home today, i will try and get pics up asap.
what i do have is a couple pictures of the lpf logo engraved today

'bunch'a whiners. Everything burned gives off various amounts of toxic vapors. Just put it under a vent hood. :D

I hear they can still do metal if you put a special coating on the piece. (think "sharpie and balloon")

well, we have a fume extractor but there are still things not to engrave.
also you are thinking of laser marking. the coating when hit with a laser reacts and combines with the metal, leaving a permanent mark (no actual cutting/engraving).

You can't engrave things such as PVC, because PVC emits a nasty chlorine gas when its burnt.

lol you could call it a potmod but i call it scary, too much fire...
EDIT: proto is correct that we paid $20,000 but he didn't say that we got a good deal on this, these setups can be well over $30,000
