The only thing with the controller I have, for computer fans, is that it will not stop the fans and the adjustment in speed is quite a narrow band..... It does give you different patterns but not as many as with a DC motor and pot.
Thanks TSM, that saved me from doing my usual hunt on Ebay for the seller I use
They come with those little spring clips which makes them a doddle to mount, I set mine up originaly by pressing the little tags on the clips into corrugated cardboard, to make sure everything was in the correct place then transfer the hole positions to the proper mounting board.....
HEy guys i used to make beam robots before i was a laser enthusiiast and you should really buy your pots and motorsa from pagermotors they are the same but cheaper ;D
Wow, I made a laser project like this on some foam board with scrap motors, and used a variable voltage to change the motor speed (too lazy to hook up a pot). It was more of a proof of concept for me, I had seen something like a time tunnel (just one motor) and thought it was awesome, then I wanted to see what it looked like with a 2nd motor. I am gonna have to see about building a portable one of these (maybe couple it with the 7 color laser, but I don't know if I'll be able to do that). I really like the way of mounting the laser, that was the worst part of the one I made (it was really variable where the laser ended up pointing).
Where did you get the acrylic mirrors? All I could find (JoAnn and Michaels) were glass mirrors. Finding a 1mm glass drillbit is not something I want to spend time on, especially since I could just get acrylic mirrors instead.
I found the mirror on ebay, I got a 9" square for a couple of $.
