Everyone knows by now that I've been working on putting a spacer in the head of my dorcy for the purpose of cooling the dorcy down and making the diode last longer. Well, I was successful in shoving a aluminum pipe down the center of my spacers that were too big then doign a bit of shaving off inside to make the module fit. I've gotten success on three dorcy jr's. and am very impressed with the longevity I've increased the duty cycle. I've been able to run my Dorcy JR for about 5 minutes before I get concerned enough to turn off the laser. Here are the pics......

You should be proud. Your camera (and you) does macro work very, very, well…

I have to keep grabbing the Dorcy Jr. I bought two days ago as a host for the diode group buy to look at it and remind myself how small it is. LOL!

DAMNED nice work, man ! What are you using for the legs of your diodes ? They look fairly stiff - like LED legs or something ???

I thought it said just that in his Dorcy Jr. tutorial... I'll go back and look....

Yep.

From Kenom's DIY DVD Burner tutorial:

Grab the Aixiz module. Unscrew the lower half of the module and grab a pipe cutter. Using the pipe cutter we are going to cut off all but what we need to bring the focus ring to the end of our flashlight head. In my case it was 9mm of the barrel remaining, the rest was cut off. So my entire module top and bottom is 16mm. Using a dremel tool I notch the bottom of the now tubed bottom so that I have a place for my two leads to come out of. I then take a cut the leads off of a normal led about ¾ inch long for soldering onto the pins of our Laser diode.
I solder the leads of the led onto the pins from the laser diode and replace the hollow cap back onto the bottom of the module.
I with a pair of pliers bend the diode’s new pins so that they are exiting sideways out of the grooves that we cut into the bottom of the barrel on the module. Making sure that they do not come into contact with the side of the module we then solder the diode’s new pins onto the negative and positive places we cleaned up. Make sure also that the positive connection on the board itself does not come into contact with the module either and epoxy it in place with some thermal epoxy. Power the diode up again one more time to make sure we have electrical connection.

ARRGHHH>..I kept my packaging on my Dorcy Mini up till trashday!!!!

Had to ask now....

Oh well...

I was unable to find mine at walmart..though they did carry other Dorcy lights...

Target had plenty of them....I'd start looking there.

remember what it looks like..when you see it hanging there there will be no mistaking it....it comes with a single CR123 Lithium..and will be @ 20 bucks!

If they are becoming rare..I'd offer to go buy all that they have and sell them here to people that can't find them..
