well I'm having doubts let me know what you guys think, I ordered a glass aixis with my flexdrive2 for my blu-ray project. Mainly because I prefer glass and metal instead of plastic and plastic. Been reading around and it seems I might not have chosen a good thing. There is a site called laserenthusiasts that seems to have some info but it won't let me read posts or sign up for that matter. so should I use the glass or find a plastic one?

I have used both, I do not have a LPM so I can only go on what I see and that is...negligable difference....but maybe that is to do with my old, tired eyes ;)

All I can say is the brass housed glass lenses feel nicer to use as they stay straighter in the housing, the plastic ones tend to tilt due to the pressure of the spring and weak plastic threads.

Glass AixiZ lens is AR coated for reds!

That will almost halve a 405nm's output in comparison to a clear glass or acrylic lens. In fact, clear lenses do almost as good as $100 405nm AR coated lenses.

There will not be much difference between a glass and acrylic lens if both are AR coated for reds. It's the coating, that is the problem.

I have heard you can focus farther with the aixiz glass lenses, but I don't know since I don't own one.
For power they basically suck, you won't get more than 10 extra mW with this lens, look at this graph made by Dr. Lava comparing both lenses:

I just did a test with my 405. There was only 2mW difference (19-21mW). I guess all of mine are coated.

Did the acrylic lens have its back opened? That can make a big difference.
