I was tempted to get something after getting an email about this, but then I remembered my past interactions with them and said screw it. If any company is getting my money, it's gonna be JetLasers.

I actually considered their evo laser just cause I wanted something power adjustable for outdoor and indoor use. For $90 it seems to be an OK deal. But I think it would be underspec by a lot.

My friends has an Evo, (100mw version) tested full power at 82mw.

Crap power, but pretty bright, I'd say, although your better off going with Sci-fi Lasers 532nm 80mw-120mw.

I have an Evo. It was given to me as a gift from a good friend. It meters at 130mW peak with fully charged cells.

This is tempting I do like the Nano but would never pay that normally for a 100mW pointer.
I wonder if they are shutting down. It makes zero sense to stop shipping to the U.S. one of the legal countries for these lasers and then other places. I would bet the U.S makes up a big portion of their orders so I wonder, why would they not want to sell their products? It doesn't make any sense unless they are done with lasers. WL could simply be a subdivision of a larger company thats getting closed. Does anyone know?

I am tempted to order a Nano if they are going bye bye for ever but i know they have had pretty bad shipping and waiting problems in the past. Whats the odds the shipping time and accuracy will be any better with the likely larger flood of orders and a company thats shutting its doors? Seems sketch.

Ugh! I couldn't help myself... I just ordered the 2W Arctic... :banghead: the discount knocked off about $250 from the total. I hope it works when it arrives, as I'm sure if it doesn't I'll be SOL with a return attempt.

Why do I impulse buy?!?!?! lol.

I've got one of their Arctic 1.4W and although it took a while to arrive (4 weeks even with expedited 1-3 wk shipping), luckily it was all g2g. If their metering certificates are legit, then my 1.4W averages 47mW overspec.
So, yea, hopefully the 2W I just ordered doesn't disappoint, but I know it's a gamble.:undecided:

I may be doing the same thing. The 400mw lunar will be $180 after discount. Thats a good buy. I know people really hate WL around here but Ive used one and the host is very well made. They are a nice laser, maybe not worth the price but that doesn't mean they are garbage. I would love one for my collection but wouldn't pay their price. Now IMO they are a good buy. I am worried about shipping time and a damaged or lost item to a company that may be closing its doors. I highly doubt WL is going to get into 5mw lasers. Im not sure what to make of this puzzling announcement. It doesnt make any sense to me.

For $20 less, you can get a laser of twice the power, in that wavelength (405nm).

Yes Sci-fi offers 800mw-1000mw for less. In fact Im waiting on some of his lasers now but its not always about max wattage per dollar as the most desired quality of a laser. The lunar has the wattage I would prefer for certain use's rather than a 1w. Also things like much longer duty cycle and strobe or low level settings are things sic-fi's laser doesn't have. I also really like the host the lunar comes in and want variations in my collection.

The operative word is get - if you order from WL, it is likely that nothing will arrive!
Really? Its likely? I doubt this is an accurate statement.

I understand I know very little about lasers other than what I have learned and read on the forums. Im not a robot though I still like to make up my own mind to varying degrees. I have searched reviews of WL and although a ton of negative posts come up the majority Ive seen are not actual 1st hand accounts but rather a person asking about WL and a dozen or so people giving anecdotal accounts of others and their personal opinion as to why WL is crap. I have also watched many WL LPM'ing videos on YouTube. Some come in under spec, some come in over spec and I know from operating these devices that a couple videos that the laser metered way under spec that they were not turned on to full power. This was either operator error or intentional.

Another thing I have noticed about the negative reputation of WL that makes me question some things I hear is that its not the case on other forums and on line reviews away from LPF. It could be that WL has pissed people off with their over priced lasers and rightfully so but are they really that poorly built? Is this possibly mob mentality being a factor here. I only ask because thats not uncommon within some other forum communities that I have been part of.

I'm not some WL advocate. Im trying to make sense out of inconsistent information. I am just saying it how I see it from the reading I've done here and other places.

I have also seen a common trend here of a person has a bad experience with a company and goes on the crusade of making threads trying to scare people from ever doing business with said company because they didn't get their new toy in the time stated or some other frivolous gripe I find as understandable. Yea maybe it sucks but that life man. It ain't aways peaches and cream. Of coarse there are also legitimate complaints as well.
I do agree and have always felt that WL are WAY over priced but having used 3 different models multiple times I do think they are a nice laser and worth the money NOW that they are discounted 40%. Also I have seen my friends leave them on very long time without noticeable harm to the laser.

Well see. I want to order but I would be lying if I said all the warnings do to give me pause. Nobodies looking to get screwed but people make it out like you're lucky if you get a laser delivered at all. I can't believe this is the case.
Flame away.

Sorry to rain on the parade, but I read on CPF that the duty cycle on WL products is not always accurate and is a selling ploy.

Yea I have heard the same. I think Im going to take the safe road and get a 405 from another maker. At the very least if WL are being watched for by customs thats enough reason to avoid them for me.
O-like has a 400mW 405nm laser for $89 and its a nice host, the Power Rock. I like this host as much as the Lunar. It seems that even at 40% off the Lunar is still quite pricey for its power.

40% off is almost enough to make me order an Arctic. Almost. I'd rather pay more an give my money to Gray and the folks at JL then to those douche bags.
