505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

I wonder if you could get any of the diodes to get close to 495nm... I personally would value 495nm over 589nm

I'll know more once I see one, but from what I've seen so far, my best guess is no. Not with this diode. Probably won't even get to 488nm.

My highest prediction is 486nm. And that's starting with one of those higher wavelength diodes to begin with. I can't see them getting any higher than that without damaging them.
But 480+ is still beautiful and unique to own.

Woohoo if there's any group buy on the 470-480nm diodes, or someone is wanting to sell me one, I'm in for sure!

Just to get this out there, mine are all spoken for as of now. As soon as I hear from them that more diodes are available you guys will hear it.

Did we ever get a supposed model number on these? The only diodes in this wavelength range seem to be n¡chias and unless these are putting out 100mW @ 130mW,even that is ruled out. They have one that is designed to be 473nm.

These are Sharp diodes. As for a model number Not so far.



Good to see the results, thanks for organizing that! :) Hopefully they can make 480nm with a little bit of a push. More testing needed I suppose.

As bad as this sounds I may put that 473 on ebay to see if I can recoup my money.

I'm willing to bet that these very well may be 473nm diodes. I think we need to test one on a spectrometer starting at lasing threshold and plot mA in vs power vs wavelength. Would hate to blow one by over driving say a 30mW 473nm rated diode trying to get 480nm out of it due to a mislabeling.

It appears that I will be getting some of these (the so called 480nm diodes) to measure with my spectrometer. Once I have done that, I will post the results for everyone to examine. Keep your fingers crossed.

Yup. I really hope that my batch ends up being overall higher WL than the first batch. Fingers crossed. 480-485nm is the best blue.

Would be interested in seeing a Vf vs If graph for both LDs when someone has a chance to test that out... Thinking of driver options. :D

I cannot kill any of these diodes in search of the highest power or wavelength, but will try to get enough information for a reasonable graph. As for drivers, I am leaning toward the adjustable X-Drive by laseerer. I still have a couple in my stock.

Yes, not looking for a kill test, just a Vf/If graph up to around the rated forward current, maybe a little past it. I'd like to use a flexdrive with these LDs but maximum output voltage is 5.5V.

laserman121, did they happen to mention what Vf was at 130 mA? Don't have to know, but it would be nice to know.
