I am currently looking for a IR laser that is around 700nm-810nm's. i will be doing a science fair and i want to do it on lasers. what i was wanting to do is say " Do you see the laser " Judges.. Nooo ?? Well watch*puts match in front, match lights!* Wow thats awesome. i need it to be at least 200mW's. If you have one, or can make me one, Please pm me with your offers. Thanks

Build your own? Stonetek 808 IR diodes are only $10 and should be able to reach 200mw. Also, make sure you have the appropriate goggles...

i cant really waste any money messing up, and i dont have a meter so i would not know the output on it.
But is there a tutorial on how to build a ir laser ?

Buy a Stonetek IR diode, Mount it into an Aixiz module, Solder a driver(set to 320ma) to the diode, power on and voila, you have 200mw of IR....

At 10 bucks a pop, I don't think you should worry about screwups...

Sounds easy but i have one question, how would i know the focus of the dot ? would i just keep a object in front and focus till it starts smokin the object ? Thanks for the help tho

Those wavelengths are visible, especially loser to 700nm. Even 200mW of 808nm looks like 1mW of red, so the project may not go as planned if it is visible. I suggest going with 980nm, it's really cheap and invisible.

Edit: Yeah to focus it just find the distance something starts smoking at and remember that for your demonstration.

I've had success collimating my IR diode with a simple Aixiz acrylic lens. You could use a camera to "view" the beam and focus normally or just adjust until you have a smaller dot on the object...

As suggested, get the appropriate safety goggles since IR can burn your retinas without you knowing it..

Unfortunately, it's invisible to most cameras too. Most cameras tend to cut out around the 870nm range although some can still see it..

Just fix it in place on something, then make a focal point between the diode and say some wood. Then mark where the focal point is on the wood.

i got a scorpius-d 808nm 700mw(826mw peak 801mw average) but it may be a bit out of your price range. asking between 300-350$ ;)

will also consider trades :-/

For 980nm try eBay, I think Heruur sells them pretty cheap IIRC.

Yeah!$10+$6+$12+$23+$16-$18=$67-$69 For a nice IR laser that will last you a long time. ;)
I'm impressed how much you link to different items. It seems you promote DX and Stonetek in every single one of your posts :) (which is cool)

^ Yeah I like Stonetek. Senkat (Greg stoner) is a good person. But where did he go?

DX is just the cheapest! Even though it can take up to a month to get your stuff, there prices can't be beat!  :D

[edit]It looks like he isn't selling those IR diodes anymore. :-/[/edit]
