Location?

Ah, I see. Would you take an offer of $55 shipped for 3 PHR diodes, and 2 LRC diodes? These need to be removed from the sled myself, yes?

Hey pal, sorry for the delay in my posting, I can pop them out of the sleds and if wanted the heat sink too. $55 for 5 may be near the mark, but where do they need to be shipped, and is this by Paypal? PM me if still interested, Thanks! -Glenn

Thanks again Glenn, the 2 LPC sleds and module arrived lightning quick. I'll try to get one going from my hotel room in LA, tomorrow.(CanJam 09).

Glenn, would you give me a link showing the red diode location on the LPC-815? Or anyone else. I didn't find it using the search?

Here's a good way to identify the red diode: if you hold the sled with the optical lens of the sled pointing toward the floor, and both the diodes closest to you, then the red diode is the one on the right. I sent this to millirad earlier, but I suppose it c/b useful to others as well.

2 more LPC's please Glenn. Priority please. Let me know and I'll paypal immediately. I had a red beam going in my hotel room, but when I hacksawed that little ring around the diode, it wasn't cut deep enough so it came off with some mechanical shock and wouldn't laze afterwards. Now that I have a feel for it, the other one should come out cleanly. I'm going to build one for my elevator engineer brother-in-law so I need 2 more. Thanks again for your lightning express service!

After fighting the other LPC diode with a hacksaw blade, I struck pay dirt! Just got an LPC going at 180ma with the AR glass lens in. It is very bright and has a sweet tight little beam. I will get it into a host tomorrow and then put a dummy load on the flexdrive, so I can pump the current up.

Received the 6X diode the other night. Extracted and pressed into Aixiz module last night, ready to fire up. I'm just waiting on some custom machining and I'll get one of Larry's lenses to give this diode a good life.
Can't wait.
Thanks!

Millirad: I find it much easier to press the diode out of the heatsink. It eliminates the risk of damaging the diode and it comes out out much faster. I use a short piece of radio antenna with one side cut in half. It's shaped like this:
Untitled-1-5.jpg

The "half pipe" part of the tube fits over the die mount (or "can" if it's an LCC or other canned diode) and since it is not a full tube it does not scrape against the die on the other side.
I hold the heatsink in place, put the press tool in place, and press it out with a vice. When the diode comes free, Instead of falling out, the "half pipe" holds on to the diode can. Fast, effective, and safe. I have used this same technique for all the diodes I have extracted and it works flawlessly. I hope this helps. :)

Wow steep learning curve with the reds. I pressed the LD into the module, but it wasn't fully seated. It ran at 260ma for about 2 hours of off/on play time and went dim/died. Perfect execution or you won't get a high power red. I'm happy that I have 2 more coming. This time I won't take any chances.

Thanks again Glenn for lightning express service! Received 2 LPC sleds. I'm building the antenna press device from a Harbor Freight telescopic mirror costing $1.29. It is thin wall chrome plated brass tubing. I'm currently cutting a 1" piece from the third to the widest diameter from it and grinding flat with file/sandpaper. I'll take a piece off to allow for clearance near the pins. Hoping to succeed getting an LD fully seated tonight. Wish me luck, and thanks again. PS: if you decide to buy more sleds, I think they will sell. For me I would be interested in the LCC red LDs as well as LOCs. ;-)

Just got the LPC running at 320ma and the beam is impressive! The beam is visible in a dark room without smoke. I created a DDL driver for this one. I installed the LD in 2 steps using the back of the aixis module with a vice to push almost flush and then the antenna piece pushed it in all the way. I just received a tip on how to do a better job of it though. ;-) Thanks for the great red LDs Glenn!
