Hi, I would like to purchase 1 mW hard-cased black laser with the longest cord/shortest tube length available.

Can you please point me towards a good power supply I could use for this?

Several of these have fairly long cords. I am not at home this weekend. I'll have to get back with you for the actual measurements of what's availalbe. I'll also have to see at how low a voltage I can run them.

I'll get back with you Monday evening or Tuesday morning

Peace,
dave

Cool, Thanks!

The length combination you asked about is:

Longest cord ~6ft
Shortest tube ~9.5in

I can run them as low as 1.7KVDC (1700VDC) These powers of PSU are available on eBay fairly regularly. I have a "lab style" available for $50

Peace,
dave

Hey Dave,

Thanks again for helping me find a suitable PSU for my bare tube a few weeks ago. I'm now in need of a male Alden connector and cable. Did you pull any off of the dead lasers, and if so, would you be willing to sell one?

Thanks!

He told me that he had a 4 foot one, a ~1 foot and a <1, but I got the 4 footer.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I was looking for power supplies and I was wondering if this would do:

VERY NICE AEROTECH LASER POWER SUPPLY MODEL #PS05 - eBay (item 270552362229 end time Mar-30-10 18:08:03 PDT)

Also, would your power supply be easy for me to hook up the laser to? Do I just plug the power supply straight into the wall?

Finally, is the beam of the laser tube focused nicely and precisely? That is important to me as well.

Thank you very much for your time!

The eBay listing says it is 1800V. I did a quick search for the model and cannot confirm that. I do not know it is wrong. I just cannot confirm it.

My lab-style PSU plugs into the wall. You plug the laser into the PSU. You turn the key. It has a safety delay. Then it lights. It is all safely enclosed.

HeNe lasers have very nice beam specs. The beam exits directly from the plasma. There is no "focusing" needed

Peace,
dave

brando132,

Thanks for the info. My tube is 14 inches long, but I may be able to use a 1 foot cable and just set the PSU pretty close to the tube.

KiLLrB,

Thanks for the links. I had planned on ordering from Meredith Instruments but saw this thread and figured I'd see if Dave could save me a few bucks.

Hey Dave, that power supply doesn't seem to light up. I think something is wrong with it.

I've waited for 5 minutes for the laser to power up...Doesn't seem to work.

The orange indicator light never comes on...or it might flicker for an instant but immediately turns back off.
