Re: daguin Holiday Clearance Sale

The non-chased threads hold the lens in a very stable manner.. It won't lose collimation unless you want it to, even if dropped (assuming everything else survives)

M'kay thanks. I will look under my bed, and see if i can find some money for the argon. I am in england, so it will probably double the price, but there are no argons in england it would seem

Thanks daguin

They are harder to find, there, that's for sure. Also, those that are available are often very "used." Most of the used gas lasers are listed as "as-is" and "untested." I have three dead tubes in my shed right now waiting to be recycled and another in my workshop that I'm not ready to give up on yet. IMNHO knowing that it is working well is worth extra monies ;)

I just shipped a PSU to Scotland. Shipping the PSU alone was about $50. Shipping wouldn't double the cost, but it would increase it by about 50%. Plus, we would have to say that it was very cheap "used" equipment to avoid a high VAT!

I completely agree. It is just something that needs to be said so the new owner isn't surprised by it.

Dave, I'd offer to chase the threads on that smooth but with the diode inserted I can't without pushing the diode out.

Thanks, Kenom. I thought about sending it to you when I was working on it. However, I actually like the consistent focus. I'm not a "burner." I usually set my hand helds to "infinity" and get frustrated if I have to refocus them after using them for awhile.

Peace,
dave

Define "in action." Do you want/need a beam shot? -- a picture of the spot? -- Something I can't imagine?

OUCH!

I normally make about $70 per hour. :)

A couple of months ago somebody entered the wrong code for me. I got a check being paid only $20 per hour!

It took them three weeks to get it straightened out. I was not a happy camper

Yeah.  I went to college for seven years to qualify for my job.

I DO still remember what it was like when I was making $1.10 per hour, 12 hours a night, on a modified swing shift, in a sheet metal shop.

I feel your pain.  I glad I don't have to personally experience it any more, but I feel it.

Peace,
dave

LOL! Income is all relative ;) However, I do love my job. Basically, I get paid to read about and talk about things I am already interested in. Plus I get LOTS of time off to play :)

I am a professor of human communication. $70 per/hr is what it would work out to if I was paid by the hour. It's easier for people to envision an hourly rate.

Peace,
dave

Oh, never mind. If you don't have any pictures of it already, then don't go to the trouble of taking any. I pretty much emptied out the "spending cash" I set aside on an oscilloscope. Hopefully, with the absolutely astounding collection you have, you'll have a clearance sale next year, too. :)
