Just some information..

I have been searching for quite some time to find a good and cheap source of electronic parts. I found this store called Futurlec, and not only did they have all that I needed, it was way cheaper than ALL other sites/shops that had passed through my sight.

Link to the shop: http://www.futurlec.com/

Shipping is also very cheap. I made a quite large order, and shipped express from Australia only cost me 22USD, and that was the expensive choice (3-6 days delivery). If you have a bit more patience then shipping can cost a lot less see below:

Just wanted to share this find since almost everyone in here uses electronic components somehow and compared to ie. RadioShack a shitload of cash can be saved.

Best regards

I used to use them back in the day - they've been around for, I don't know, must be a decade at least.

My issue with them at this stage, is that they have horrible selection, and an incredibly awful website to try and navigate. The search is very unintelligent. Most of their stuff doesn't have a photo attached unless you flip over to the "more info" page, per item and/or vie the datasheet. When you're trying to quickly find parts, that makes the experience painfully slow.

They have pretty poor selection compared to someone like DigiKey. DigiKey charges $8 shipping, even to Canada, and I have my order next day (that's overnight shipping from the US to Canada for $8). I don't know how they do it.

I found all that I needed with a lot of variations to choose from so from my pov they have it all ;)

DigiKey does have a lot better site to navigate and search, I think it took me well over an hour to find and order all the items I needed from Futurlec. The prices at futurlec was averaging 25% below other sites I have searched and that is per item even in small quantities. I cannot justify to order from DigiKey since they charge way to much to ship to Denmark :-( I have not checked the prices at DigiKey compared to Futurlec, only shipping costs.

Best regards

I guess it depends on what you're trying to order. Just for fun, I tried to scope out the parts to build a basic Jib/Mohgasm style linear 1085 based driver.

Even that wasn't doable. They don't have any TO263 or TO252 1085 regulators. But if they did, I'd still be SOL when it comes to resistors, because all they carry are low wattage 0805 size, and even then, you're limited to 10 ohm or higher.

It seems like they may be targeted more towards large non-SMD traditional parts.

What does DigiKey charge to ship to you?

Ahh I see, i think that it why I had that "wow they have it all feeling", I only ordered regular components :) Shipping international depends on weight, but when I look at their chart it looks like this:

Estimated International Shipping Charges

United States Postal Service Express Mail International 1lb: 39-46USD 2lb: 59-68USD.

If I opt for regular, non express shipping, it costs 30USD:

UPS World Wide
Order Amount: Under $100, $100 or more
Ship Rate: $30, FREE*
FedEx International Priority
Order Amount: Under $100, $100 or more
Ship Rate: $30, FREE*
