Re: Introducing 405nm.com: breathe new life into your laser pointer

Here is where i got mine: FerroFluid Desk Toys, Magnetic Toys and Office Toys | CZ FerroFluid

According to his faq, they use 14 different suspention liquids, but they don't offer it for retail, only personal use.

As for sticking to the glass, the suspention fluid prevents it. However, if you leave a magnet on the bottle with fluid stuck to it for an extented time, it still stains.

That's the exact problem I was having, the magnet would get the fluid to stick if I left it there :yabbem: I can't imagine what 14 liquids he had to use though, my formula was much simpler and seems to do the same thing. That 1 liter bottle in his video sure looks familiar too..

I do know he seels the bottles with a metal lid, so the magnet can stay on the cap when not being used. Helps to prevent staining by just sticking the magnet on the glass.

The ferrofluid is based on a very low viscosity oil, it wets just about anything like crazy. I was thinking about looking into those super-hydrophobic/oleophobic coatings.

In other news, cyan paint is now in stock again.

Yeah the red can't get much redder (which is unfortunate, a deep ~680nm red would be awesome) without going to zinc sulfide powders which don't glow long and also smell bad :p It's certainly redder than orange glow powder though. Violet has a similar limitation, it's a more complicated color to produce than plain old green or blue and definitely needs a very UV-rich light source and longer charging time.

Due to a slight mixup in glow pigments from my supplier, glow paints are temporarily out of stock. If you received any paint that subsequently dried out while in the bottle, let me know and I'll be sending replacements once I get the correct pigments in.

At the moment, I wont be re-ordering pointers for about a month since I get the 532nm at the same time as the 405nm pens, I can send you a message when they're in stock if you like.
