what goggles were the best in ur opinion im getting that same laser. & what price were they

well the best single pair of googles ive used are the barr & stroud ones. they cost me £11.50 inc. delivery. however i do use 2 pairs of googles for reduced dot intensity.

You should just buy more expensive goggles. Higher quality goggles would negate the need for using two pairs at a time.

well the problem is that to get rated googles you need to pay megabucks and have a long-ish wait as well, so i chose the b&s ones as they had been tested with a 200mw 405nm and were in this country. i figured the dot wouldnt be that much brighter with the b&s ones but it was more bright than i expected hence the reason i use the second pair. it may be a worthwhile investment but i needed a solution to come from this country that wouldnt cost an arm and a leg, this meant that i could start experimenting almost right away. i will definetly be getting a rated pair in the future but im happy with 2 pairs for now except i cant see the beam but i can live with that.

those yellow googles i gather dont block enough of the light so even a glancing beam of a reflective surface can be very bad, and my own tests on cheap red ones is just as bad if not worse as these are supposed to block 405 but clearly dont. im not putting those ones down as i have not heard of them or tried them however i have read these forums and some person selling them (or similar ones) did not recommend them for use with a high power laser, hence my decision to go with what i bought.

one more addition to my videos - a small note if you will about the snow googles - do NOT use anything like these on there own.
i have since burned a hole right through them in less than a second. my videos were shown with an unfocused beam but i decided to try focussing it and ruined them in less than a second, it went straight through the 2 layers. unfortunatly i didnt get it on video as i totally didnt expect it to happen that quick - if at all.

Yeah, i would never use just snow goggles for protection. Although i do bring my greenie and 445 to the ski slopes with me to watch the beam through the air from the top of the mountain (especially if it is snowing or foggy) :)

that sounds soo cool. i think i wouldnt be alone in asking for some beamshots :). ive looked through this forum for beamshots in snow and fog and some of them look spectacular.

also a quick question - i noticed in one shot there was a picture of someone using no googles but shining a laser at snow on the ground and looking at it, so am i right in saying thats dangerous as the dot is being reflected? i guess im asking if it really is dangerous to look at the dot with unprotected eyes. im still not 100% sure whats safe to look at and whats not.

Neither am I. I wouldn't personally do that; especially that close up. I am fine with pointing it in the snow if it is > 10ft or 15ft. I usually don't see a ton of reflection from snow, but then again, I'm not in the direction of the reflection, so idk.
Sorry, I don't get to go to Perfect North (ski resort) very often so it would be pretty difficult for me to get beamshots of that. My mom has a knee injury so we don't go on ski vacations in winter anymore either :(
I do have many beamshots in my 445 thread; see link in my signature.

sorry to hear about that. ill check them out as soon as i posted this - i want to get an idea of what mines actually looks like. i think ill stick with the safe option for now and use the double googles.
