Ok so my friend has a broken xbox he dont use anymore, the chances are the diode could be fine.

Would there be a laser in there worth a dig or would it be infrared and more or less be a waste of time getting a laser you cant see =P

Sorry for not using the search I usually try, so Byrnz93 you are saying that there is nothing of use inside of it :)?
 
The only diode I would think would be in there would be a low powered IR diode
 
It will have both an infrared and a red ones. An Xbox uses DVDs for the games but can also read CDs in order to play music. I have one and it's a great system. I got Linux installed on it ;)

What's the error msg on the Xbox if there's any? After cracking 5 or 6 units for friends one ends by learning much about them xD
 
Ahh I dont know I did'nt ask.. but in conclusion are both the diodes inside more or less worthless?
(Asking again because its red not infra-red now ;P)
 
There is a red reader and an infrared reader. Readers are not worth ;) We use writers!
