Well, it seems the dot now has a line sticking through it like this:

-O-

:'( any ideas? I haven't dropped it or anything.

WORRY causes that ! You should NOT sleep with your lasers in your hands at night - you should not take them into your bathroom to see what green poop looks like....I think you are simply over analyzing that poor laser to death ! Sorry :( Not ridiculing you (okay, maybe a tiny bit) But to be honest, I have no ideas :( Does the line rotate when you turn the laser ? can you see anything wrong on the lense when you remove the aperature cap ? Sorry for my misplaced smart-assed comments...truly funny (you KNOW you laughed !) but they realyl do not belong in this thread :P

There is nothing wrong with the lens that I can see and the line rotates when I turn the laser.

I KNOW this has been discussed on here before, but I cannot think of it - do you have a lensepen ? Since it rotates when you rotate the laser, it could be a smudge of sorts on the lense - I may be way off base, but IIRC - that it most likely what it is....

My x105 has a strange circle that dissaperes when you hold it upside down... or when you tap it hard.
Meh :D

I ordered one about 2 weeks ago. They say that it takes months to get it to me.

If you ordered it from lensepen.com - it should be there any day now :-) Mine took right at 2 weeks, IIRC...do NOT try to clean it with alcohol or anyhting like that....

EXCELLENT ! Now, remember what I sid about the green poops, too - the humidity will kill the laser :P

Hahaha I'm not that desperate for Wicked Bucks, LOL.

Someone should have submitted a picture of them burning wicked lasers picture with a core and sent it in for WB LOL

You got Lucky..It must have been something "Dry"..like a hair..or dust...

I had the same thing...blew off the lens..and whatever it was it "SPLATTERED over the surface of the LENS >:(

Not having a Lens pen available...

I used Zeiss Lens cleaning solution...

Here is how I did it...

Take a new clean Q-tip..and spray the Zeiss Lens solution on the end.. (DO NOT USE THIS Q-TIP...IT WIL BE TOO WET!!!)

Take another new clean Q-tip, and dap the front of it on the WET Q-tip...

THis will transfer JUST enough solution to the new Q-tip to do the job...

Lightly and gently clean your lens (3-4 Swipes..then done...Rubbing dirt around on the lens WILL SCRATCH IT!!!)

Use another NEW DRY q-tip and again 2-3 swipes to dry up any solution/ smudge left in there from the first step.

Lastly..use a can of compressed air and LIGHTLY (NOT FULL PRESSURE) blow off the lens to remove any fibers the dry Q-tip left.

if you perform this very gingerly, and do not get anything soaking wet..it will work perfectly!!!

THough the Lenspen is a MUCH better tool for the job...If you don't have one available..my method will work in a pinch!

Lastly..an ounce of prevention is worth a POUND of cure....

Go to your local hardware store, and get a 1/2" rubber dowel cap...

Clean it out really good and use it as a cover for the appeture end of the laser.

39 cents ...beats risking damaging the lens cleaning it!

Yea I almost ruined my laser with a wet q-tip. I like that method Larry, will have to use it next time... Thanks!

Also if got a safety switch to go with you x-series laser, you can use the tail cap as an app cover when not in use.

Odd, the same thing happened to my red atek and I Was told that was common and was NOT because of dirt, was I misinformed or does this work differently with red vs green lasers?

It can ALWAYS be dirt...

THat is usually the best and easiest place to start....

However...red lasers canl also give a line through the dot when there is a small imperfection in the Diode element...OR if the diode has been damaged from over current/voltage or over heated.

It's just the nature of the beast....

On a positve note..that line in a RED should have MINIMAL impact on burning abilities.....

Oh this little guy can pop baloons and light matches in >1 second! (the former wihtout any focus! I can light matches unaided if I'm at the focal point, which is ~10' away IIRC)

Considering I paid <$200 for a 200mw laser, I wouldnt be suprised if it has some inperfections. I already know it has a less-than-perfect battery spring (I was told this is common in all atek's too) but I'm happy with it, so...
