This is a PGL-style IR portable laser like the 1W Aseras bought from laserglow (except a weaker and less expensive version of course). Its body is like an Aries, except the aperture cap is different to facilitate a larger opening. If anyone is interested I'm offering:

- >650mW 808nm laser
- Power cert/graph
- OD 3+ goggles
- Priority shipping within the US
(please contact for foreign shipping quotes)

For a flat $495.

I only have one of these and I'm only selling it because I could really use the $ right now. First pay first served. Please send me a PM, e-mail, or contact me via IM or phone if you're interested or need any further details. Thanks

:o :o man Pseudo.. speechless.

I really need to get another job

Yeah, I wish I had a little bit more cash too :P

Pseudo - I'm interested. What type of focal length are we talking??

Well I already answer it in basics on the phone, but here's a more in depth answer :):

This laser has equally bad beam specs as the IR pen lasers SenKat post about but while the pens have a tight focus and monstrous divergence, these sacrifice having such a tight focus for improved divergence. Also, because this is a collimated diode laser, the focus is more of a line than a nice round dot.

That said, it seems to get the tightest in the 5-6 foot range. You can also unscrew the front post a little if you want to do unaided burning, which will bring the focus close, and make it tighter.

Would you mind posting a pic or short video?  Thanks!!  :)

Laser is sold to SteveTexas. Thanks!

I have to go for a few hours right now, but when I get back I'll try to take some pics for you.

stevetexas, you got a awesome laser.

FWIW in my experiece, a simple magnifing glass right up close takes the "line" the diodes emit and makes it a tiny square about 1 mm in diameter about 4 feet out. anything that get in the way goes poof with mine. Just be careful with AR uncoated optics since you can throw a reflection ( or several ) pretty easily.

Also taping a trashbag to the wall and drawing on it and slicing it in half in real time from across the room is fun.

I'm thinking about using my beam expander with it... maybe that (with some additional optics) will help the specs some.

the beam expander will help the divergance, but it won't help anything else. The problem is that the "dot" will already be 3-4mm right that the aperature. you need to be as close to the focal point as possible to get good collimination, and with a bare diode, that is right against the diode. It's why leadlights and such have the optics buried right along with the diode in the heatsink.

Well, I think steve's plan is to use the expander to let him achieve a tighter focus at greater distance. I'm kinda confused as to what you are saying though Aseras. Any chance of clarification? :-/
