The ban etc has meant that Australia is lacking some juicy, powerful greenies :(

However, I am willing to pay up to $700 AUD for a portable greenie over 250mW.

Anyone got any they are willing to sell? I know recently BF sold one to BluRay, which I was going to buy but there wasnt much going on except flaming in the thread so I guess my post was overlooked...

:) El Taco. its hard to find a good green laser. Its even harder to get a import permit. I had mine confiscated by customs, and i tried to get a import permit and the said you can apply and they say you cant for anything over 1mw blahhhh blahhh blahhh. its not possible to get a permit to import it , but ok to buy a permit to use. its like $180 for 3 years.

Theres acouple of places in Oz you can buy from but you need the permit to have one. But there laser are exspensive.

I'd sell you my RPL-300... but... I've grown attached to it now :P Plus, it's my only high powered greenie. And what BluRay has just been saying is confirming that it's the only one I'll probably get, so I'm holding on to it :D

Lab modules are always good. Those are the only lasers I'm buying these days (Partly because I'm trying to make a few scanners too).
 
I was thinking of a lab laser, very much indeed. Although I was reading, people talking about needing various components of drivers, power supplies etc, it didnt seem like I knew enough to do that yet. Although, the OEM one you posted looks like it comes with everything... If Im using it in Australia, is all i need one of those standard $2 adapters, or something else?

Also, Im not too sure about labbies in the fact that the main reason I use a laser is to point outside.

You could get the lab-style and use the inner module/etc inside a flashlight host, and have a nice DIY handheld greenie [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
 
Than why dont you buy a cheap module from Susie and make your own poinetr?? ;D

Actually I have a KD "150mw" green that has seen it's day.. the pen host is shot, and no matter what pushbutton switch I use, it dies quickly from overcurrent(these tiny switches are only rated at 50mA, not the 600 or so mA the module draws). The module inside still works perfect otherwise, save a bit of a shanty lens. I plan on doing just as you say I should try(and I suggested of course) and placing the module into a flashlight host with a beefy heatsink and 2x AA batt power:D

I am willing to bet this will be a big improvement over the pen host. The module was incredibly stable for a green penlaser. Hopefully it will be even more stable when I get done.
 
im going to buy a 40-50mw from Susie this week to see if it gets through Customs. If it dos or doesn't i will let everyone know to buy from her. She has agreed to do something for me in order to make to chance of getting it through better.
But if we can get it, it would be good for us thats living in Oz :)

I've gotten 2 modules from her fine, and other modules from DX. Don't think there's a problem there with customs. :)
 
Oh, sweet then. i guess its only pointers, modules dont count, cause i guess they cant test them or anything also ;D
