Hello all!! I am a newbie here and i love this forum already! Just got my hands on a new phoenix from wicked lasers...I don't have a way to measure the output power though...any suggestions? don't want to spend money for a power meter of anykind at the moment....The laser is great...great beam...very bright...it really must be at least 75mW as advertised...it melts plastic black bags...it cuts electrical tape...burns a red match(with lens...) haven't tried the ballons yet...u think it is really 75mW?Hope yes...and another question...the laser beam maybe spreads too much? i point the laser on a wall accross the street (about 100meters away) and the spot gets like a tennis ball or so(a bit smaller) i can see this with magnifying goggles...is this divergance normal? or should it spread less? the beam reaches the sky easily and can see it at any point....hope it is ok...also hope to get my hands on another one...a spyder maybe???xmmmmm that laser kicks but!!! :) thanks to everyone for the great forum.

The older models had more divergance than the new ones. I you the black and gold, or all black model?
From what I can tell, it is certainly at the right power.

it is the black gold model....not all black....just came 1 week ago....hope it is new :) and also what about batteries? i Use rechargables energizer 1000mah....i heard a lot about lithium but i want rechargeable power....thanks king.

Hey - hope you don't mind me jumpin in here.....

The lithium are definitely better - BUT rechargable will work fine, too....they just have a greater voltage drop, quicker....

You are using rechargeable AAA's ? 1000mah ? I have only been able to find 900mah from energizer - and they work very well - I bought the fifteen minute recharger (has a fan to cool off hte batts as they charge) and the recharger works fabulous ! Let me know where you found the 1000mah energizers if you don't mind ?

Dear SenKat.

I live in Athens/Greece and i was looking for about 3-4days in stores for the batts...noone had them so i was dissapointed and ready to buy them via the net...last walk over the stores i discovered a little place full of batteries...stepped in and voila!!! Found energizer 1000mah rechargeables, found lithiums...found everything...and in large quantities. So i got them..they work fine and i use an Energizer charger that can do the trick in 1.5hours...i love my phoenix and guys really i think wicked is one of the best...my next project will be an OEM construction on a 200mW Dpss 532nm laser...waitting to get my parts(hybrid crystals and laser ir diode)...difficult construction but i think i can do it. i am an electronics engineer so hope it will help ;) Sen if you are intrested on buying those 1000mah search over the net...many online stores sell them for a good price :)
best regards.

SWEET !  The bad thing is - as much as I live on the net - I never looked on the web for batts  :-[  Pretty pittiful, eh ?  ;D  Thanks - I'll start scouring right away !!! Hey, also - I don't know about the rest - but I for one would be very interested in your progress with the oem project.... Keep us informed !!!

ok sen!
Just searching for the right diode and the right crystals to pump 200mW of them...got some companies on the net that do supply YVO4+KTP crystals all in one piece of glass...with mirrors ready to be pumped... :) will see how it goes...and how many mW i can get out of those things :P

regards,
Geo.

wow, just found this old post and wanted to bring it up on the list (sry for any irrelevance)
