I attempted to order the above mentioned laser today and got the message basically saying it was illegal for them to ship it to me, and that i should browse some of their weaker lasers instead. Am i really unable to do this? I live in Texas, by the way.

Laserglow got blacklisted with US customs for some reason, and they're not a company to try to sneak their products in anywhere.
So basically, they're only allowed to ship <5mW lasers.

I guess you shuld try some other places. Might I suggest sflasers.us (Thejoker301)
I've purchased 4 lasers from him and it came in good every time. He provides a paper with the power readings on the laser (Thats not something that everybody provides you with when you buy a laser)
and have handhold me through some nUUbie trouble that I've run into with the laser.
