This is a fun question. In everyday living where do you find lasers? yes I know DVD BuRay copiers, but where so they use these high powered DPSS lasers are they used in normal things like large laser printers/copiers? photo processing? just wondering. you see a lot of DPSS lasers on Ebay and whatnot but what are they originally made for? like where would they use a 1 w green DPSS laser?

Laser printer/copiers you'd find in an office or some such all use diodes. I'd imagine the large industrial ones all use diodes too I'd imagine, now that they are readily available for low prices with enough power, although I guess they could use DPSS.

Otherwise, they're used in research, as marking lasers, for displays (Laser projectors, although less so now with direct diode), measurement/scientific instruments. There's lots of uses.
