What is making my DX change output rapidly?

I know that the cold makes it change output, but why does it flash output from low to high rapidly?

It is noticable when looking at the opening of the aperture from the side.

Basically what I'm asking is what is causing the rapid unstable output changes? is it the diode?

It can't be the spring or switch. It stops doing it after 3 seconds in 60 degrees. IN the cold it just does it constantly.

You answered your question.. The cold. If you warm the green lasers up in your hand before hand they will stabilize more quickly, but in the cold it takes a second or two kind of like a car engine warming up. (at least thats how my dragon laser works when its outside)

Warming a laser with your hand is a bad idea....... Well, not bad, but not optimum. If it is cold enough to affect your lasers output its likely your hand is not going to be 100% warm as your hands get cold quick.....My best bet is but in near your abdomen if your outside or near a small appliance if your inside........ for instance, my laptop sometimes produces a small bit of heat so when i need to warm up my laser it simply sits alongside the fan on the back of my laptop for a few minutes.

Obviously some people may not have something like that but your hands are one of the worse ways to warm up something-they lose heat quickly and are one of the last places your body sends heat to.......Warm it up some other way and then see if your laser still does the same thing. Odds are if your laser is warm enough it wont do mode shifts.

Too warm gets you the same results flickering beam
DX's are nice but cant really be run for more than a min without heat problems
