What does it mean if the laser is 5mw output, but has a 6000ft range?

i thought 5mw was a small power output, meaning the laser wouldnt be as bright, but the laser i am looking at has a 6000ft range and it says it is only 5mw, would that even show a stream to the stars at night?

Yes, 5mW of green has a visible beam at night

6000 feet is just over a mile. Most lasers can do a mile easily. Even the cheapo red ones.
