Use 405/445/450nm drivers for 650nm diodes?

I heard somewhere a while ago that you can use 405/445/450nm drivers such as the BlitzBuck v3 (290ma) to power red diodes (specifically a 3.8mm 300mw), is this true?

As long as it's outputting the current & voltage that your diode requires it will work. So just make sure that it meets the requirements of your diode.
