I have a lot of unknown laser diodes from viatoll system cameras (basically, their job was to scan the plate of passing car), they are IR most likely. Couldnt find any info about them. How can I get the most info, destructive testing on a few of them is fine since I have a lot. Can they be useful/valuable?

If you know anyone with a spectrometer, they can be measured. That's how I got the wavelenghts of many Sharp diodes tha were later sold at reasonable prices according to thier wavelength.

I can send a diode for free (just cover the shipping) for anyone able and willing to do some tests

I was about to write that I can run some tests at uni but wait, you want someone to pay shipping to run tests for you?!

I was under assumption that you keep it and diode's worth = shipping cost? Idk, here it's cheap. If I was wrong then correct me, I mean no disrespect

Exactly--why would anyone want to waste the time, money, and equipment doing disassembly, pin-out, and testing + pay the shipping especially when nobody wants one of the old used items.
Is a bit too much expect of anyone. Takes a lot of unabashed self-assertiveness to suggest or expect same.
