Transplanting a working diode out of a dead drive

Hello everyone, i just got a Blu-Ray burner i shot on ebay for 20 bucks.
That's a pretty good deal I would guess. The drive was a LG BH16NS40 one.
So LG says it is a 16x/8x type. What driving current and output power can i expect? I ran it already at about 4.7V and 100mA. How far can I go?

Woo, nice! Any chance to put that puppy in a host or take any power measurements?
 
Sorry for the late response. I was taking some measurements today but without a heatsink, just in the 12mm module. I have none fitting around. The maximum current I was driving it with was 350mA. The output was 350mW, the voltagedrop was about 5.7V. At this current it started to get slightly warm pretty quick, so I did not stress it further.
