We got this idea from Instructables.com.

We used a 532nm Green 20mW, a 650nm Red 40mW and a 473nm Blue 50mW all with Diffraction Gratings to create this effect. It was easily done. So all you laser folks should definitely be sticking lasers in your Jack-O-Lanterns instead of those boring old candles.
