Gave me a good chuckle. The article describes a pumping setup that relies upon a 20W CO2 laser to make G&T lase. Under the conditions described they managed to get, "0.00001 watts of coherent gin laser light" in the 393 microns infrared range.

You can probably make a laser out of just about any chemical if you pump it enough with a large enough cavity.

10 µW of FIR is a big pile of useless, though. You wouldn't know it was there even if it hit you in the face.
