Temparature sensivity on RPL vs. Spartan GW

Hi,

I have heard that the Spartan GW is highly sensitive to cold temparatures.
What about the RPL? Is it the same or are every laser sensitive to cold?
The reason I ask is that I have considered to buy the Spartan, but if it is more cold sensitive than the RPL, I won´t buy it, because of the temparature here in Denmark (It´s between -10 and 5 degrees celcius here in the winters on the nights)
 





All green dpss lasers are sensitive to temperature. The RPL and spartan should be about the same. If you are worried about temperature you should just keep the laser warm in your pocket until you are ready to use it. Once the laser is turned on the heat from the pump diode should be enough to keep it at operating temperature .
 
i dont know about the spartan, you might want to ask Amnizu about that.
the RPL in any room temperature between 5-30 degrees celcius seems to work as normal - no major difference in output.
i have used my RPL outside in winter in temperature between -1 to 3 degrees and visually it looked really bright as always but its possible the output may have dropped. sorry i had no means of measuring the output outside that time.
 
I don't think there'll be much difference to be honest. Only the RPL will have a better heat sink, meaning it will most likely maintian power for longer.
 
I want an RPL soooo bad ;D who wants to give me £190 so I can get one ;D or does jack accept rep ??

I want an RPL Blue 40mW just as bad, but with wind of these new crystal resources, I think I might hold out a couple of years and watch the development of modules and such. Already spending so much moeny on a blue laser, there's no need to go out and spend MORE money on another one... Saying that there's plenty of reason to, it's expensive but someone's got to do it. If only money grew on trees...
 
I can't say much for the Spartan, but for the RPL green I can say the 2.5W diode running at 2.4W gets the crystals nice and cozy very quickly. You can see the beam flicker a little right off start for the first ~10-45 sec. (depending how cold it is) then it remains powerful and stable for the rest of the duty cycle. My RPL blue seems to need no warm up time as it makes a very powerful stable beam immediately after cold start, but once the 5 min. duty cycle is breached, then the crystals get over saturated and causes the beam to shift modes.

I'm not sure about the diode in the Spartan, but I believe the diode and wave operation are other aspects to consider when analyzing temperature sensitivity on DPSS lasers.
 
I notice my Romisen doesnt work too well if It's cold, If I take it outside and dont use it for a while, or just leave it in my house when the heatings off and dont use it, the power is a bit lower, also I notice flickering when the battery gets too low . But it heats up and is OK .

I've been asking people all day if they will give me £184 so I can get an RPL165  ;D Already made £5.82  ;D
