Looks normal to me Some multimode diodes look like that. Do you know what diode is in that laser?

Your diode is multimode, but the lines shouldn't be as prominent as that. How is the power output, because it may of occurred some damage?
The lines can look more pronounced when the batteries are low because you are only hitting threshold, but at normal operating voltage it shouldn't look that bad.
