Take 3/16 x 0.014 brass tubing, 0.015" wall thickness, available at many hobby shops.
Use jeweler's saw or Dremel to cut a 0.3" long slot in both sides of end (length is arbitrary).
Use pliers to decrease radius of the two prongs and gap to fit between laser diode barrel and inside wall of laser module.
For instance, to reach around a PHR diode, the finished OD is approximately 0.18".
Screw back barrel onto module. Fit prongs into the front of the module around the diode. Carefully place in vise and squeeze!
The prongs push the LD out without putting pressure on LD can face and lens.
Ciao!
