hey all,

after hours and hours of careful poking and prading i finally got m modual out of the crappy host it came with . (first picture)

first question is..is there anyway i can test this to make sure it still works now that it is extracted

second question i wanted to use my old host (

)....is the process of putting everthing together as complicated and time consuming as it was taking it out>?

what's the best, safest, and fastest way to get back powered on and running?
 





Connect the batteries negative end to the spring. Next get a wire and touch the positive end of the battery and then touch the brass part of the module.

Answer to your second question is... it'll take as long as you make it take. Most people on this forum could have the conversion done in a matter of minutes... Dunno why it's so complicated for you...
 
greenies generally use 12mm modules. Remove the old 12mm module carefully from the host you want to use and replace it with the new one, making sure that the spring ends up being in the same place for the electrical connections.

Were both hosts meant to be run off of ~3V? Be careful overdriving 3V modules with 4.2V Li-Ion. Sometimes they don't mind, other times they fry.

Yep, this is where I normally replace the switch on the module with one 1n400x rectifier diode and am free to use the module with lithium ions.

Problem here is, ofcourse, that the new host is also a sideclicky one, not tailcap switch one.

For replacing the module in the new host ...

Ehh, doubt it. The aluminium retainer ring (calling it a heatsink would insult heatsinks) looks a bit too big. You think you could turn it down on a lathe somewhere?

I managed to make a hole in a piece from another host which seems to fit okay...only problem is..is I am trying to even see if the whole modual is still working or not. so far I can't figure it out
 
Grab a lithium ion battery, connect it's negative terminal to the spring on the module, and use a piece of wire to connect it's positive terminal with the brass part of the module.

It should light up if it's still OK.
 
dont forget to press the button on the module after you connect the battery or it still wont work:yabbem:
