Start building my new red burning laser

hey guys, i`ve just finished the M140 1.9W laser, looks amazing :drool:

now i want to make red laser, probably i found already buyer for this one.

i got few DVD burners, but i`m not sure if the diode there is working or not (i got them for free from a local PC store), should i test it out or the diodes or they too low and inexpensive for the time it would take?

do you know even cheaper host than the C6 (includes heatsink of course) that i can use for this project?

For start dvd diodes are always good. Just check them with a bench supply.

DVD burners might contain useless diodes with 4 pins etc ... also can contain useless ir diodes ... Best thing do to is to check them first.
