I was wondering if these batteries AW RCR123a Protected 750 mAh Battery would be ok to use in this laser or if they would damage it? I ordered some before reading this http://laserpointerforums.com/f52/dragon-lasers-1w-spartan-54013.html
after which I ordered the recommended ones, but I would like to use the AW ones as well if they are safe. The laser I received seems to be a combination of the 2 different styles mentioned in that thread, it looks like the new style (which it is new) But it has the cap that screws off, and it came with a plastic sleeve in it, which when removed allows you to use a 18650 battery.Unfortunately I somehow lost this sleeve, but the cr123a batteries still work, they just don't fit as tight.

These batteries would NOT be ok to use in the Dragon Lasers 1W Spartan and they can definitely damage it. The Spartan is designed to work with a 6v voltage. These batteries peak at 4.2v what may give 8.4v for two batteries and kill the driver or the diode. Even if they don't kill it, they won't give more power but just produce more heat.

There are actually 3v rechargeables that peak at 3.6v (7.2v for two), an amount that the Spartan can take.
