some lasers i built out of stuff laying around

both of these were from laserpointers i had found lying around my room and i was really bored.

both of them are under 10 mw.
the first one i pulled out of a laser level i bought at a garage sale for $1. i took out the diode/driver from it
it was powered by 2 AAA's but i put it in a flashlight that holds 2 AA's so i have a few more milliamps.
it has a built in collimator that is ehh but gets the job done

the second one was from a animal laser pointer that had a couple of picture things on the bezel. it broke off so i took out the diode/driver and it had a built in collimator that worked pretty good. it was powered by 3 button batteries and i put it in a flashlight housing that uses 3AAA's once again for a few more milliamps. oh and the red wire is the ground. it was the only way i could get it to work and stay on lol.

Always fun to play around with bits a bobs, even at such low power levels... amazing what hotmelt glue can do ;p

If you're into the tinkering, go for a nice 200 mW burning laser. You will need to purchase some parts, but for a few tenners you'll have lots of fun!

i was going to buy mohrenberg kit, but he is tied up.

then i was going to buy a jake21 kit, but he hasnt responded.

i was looking on o-like and saw a 30 mw green laser module for like 25 bucks, only thing is there is no collimator.

im still hoping around though.

i salvage a diode out of a cd burner, but it has 4 pins, and im confused and dont want to mess it up lol.

i might hit up craigslist to see if i can find any burners for cheapness.

Want a cheap burner, build your self one!

All you will need,

1. LPC-815 from really anyone
2. FlxDrive or Rckstr driver, depends on battery decision.
3. One of Jayrobs pen host kits
4. AAA batteries for flxdrive, or 10440 batteries for rckstr driver
5. Aixiz module
6. Some time and soldering skills and the search button here and you have your self a laser

It can range from $50-70 depending on driver. Run the diode at 420mA (Have it preset to that)

could you give me a total of all the above?

im still trying to figure out the kipkay vid though.

when he put it in the aixiz module, did he use the aixiz driver also? or did he just solder it right to the pins.?

cant seem to find or figure it out.

Well, on the kipkay, he just connected the diode directly to the batteries which is NOT RECOMMENDED because it will fry your diode and kill it within minnutes. Buy your self a driver if you want your laser to last long.

LPC815 from xlasers is 10.50 i think
Rkcstr driver set at 420 is about 19.00
Flxdrive is 30.00 set at 420
10440 batteries are about 4.00-5.00 off dealextreme, i think hightechdealz has some in stock now so check there.
AAA batteries are "free" you must have some laying around the house
Jayrobs pen host kits are 14.00 + 3.00 shipping

Those modules are already focused and are not adjustable
Using one would make a very easy DIY project as you only need to hook up 2 wires, one for positive, and one for negative.

The o-like modules are collimated. They are complete working modules, all you need to do is put them in a host and add batteries.
