I've been digging the look of the Solarforce host for a long time, I even purchased several and put XML drop ins in them. Makes great flashlights that are cheap yet high quality. But making them into lasers is a bit difficult since the head has lots of variations in interior diameter, and theres a lack of a pill...the only kits i've seen for these things go for almost $100 or so. I decided to use a LED drop-in combined with a custom made heatsink and so far so good. It looks like it will work. I tested continuity with a DMM and there is good negative connection all around. Another thing is, these host can come with a FORWARD clicky for momentary on and constant on...and its a pretty high quality switch, survives 30min on with my XML on high, thats like 2.8 Amps of current. I might make a make a kit out of these or even start selling a line of solarforce lasers.... heres the kit, with driver pill fully built, and just missing a diode. THe driver is a DX one, moddified for 1.5A current. perfect for 445's!!

Now for the host with the upgraded forward clicky switch... i like it because it makes the host look so aggressive, plus you can now tailstand a solarfoce.

heatsink and pill of the LED drop in is universal... my black solarforce has an XML LED in it, and i intend to keep it that way. the modified pill and heatsink will fit in all Solarforce L2, LP2 hosts easy...like a drop-in!!

also, theres different bezel options available. Since the heatsink is a bit recessed in, i like the flush stainless steel bezel, but if a custom focus adapter is used, then the "attack" bezel (which looks more agressive) can be used.

so what do you guys think? looks good? should i do it??? just missing a 445 diode to turn the one kit i have into a full laser... :(
