Well, I am new to lasers, I just bought a LO envee 80. My first laser that came in was mode changing, so I sent it back. I just recieved my replacement wednesday. To my surprise it was acting more like a 100mw version, it light matches unaided at about 4 feet which made me pretty happy. The divergence was excellent, I used pseudomens divergence calculator and it came out to be less than .5mrad! Now heres the really crappy part... The new laser was slightly different, parts that were aluminum were now plastic. I didnt mind this because it was working so well. I also noticed the tail caps aluminum was a cheaper, softer kind. That's bad because the body has harder aluminum. So what happened was I went to change the batteries and the cap went on nice and smooth. Well, I went to take it off to adjust the strap I put on it and it would'nt budge!? Finally after a couple senseless hours cursing at the darned thing I managed to get it off. Examining the laser the threads in the tail cap were now severly damaged! I am so frustrated because I really love lasers and I cant seem to think that any company makes good, reliable lasers short of being more than 5 or 6 hundred dollars. I dont even know if LO will take it back for a refund, or even an RMA. I am so frustrated I just cant even stand it! :'(
