Small flashlight >500Lumen (Fathers day)






This is a bit of a barrage of questions, but bear with me...

Does he already use lithium batteries, rcr123 aka 16340, or larger 18650?

Is the light meant to be pocket sized, or larger size is ok?

Do you know if he has a preference for flood or throw?

What is more important to you, output or quality?

How do you expect he will use it?

What is your total budget?

To answer your question, some other brands to consider; Eagletac, Nitecore, Armytek, Jetbeam, Zebralight, Thrunite, Crelant, Blackshadow.

If you want a small AA light, the Zebralight SC52 is an excellent option. If you want something a bit bigger, but still AA, the Nitecore EA4 is a good option for non flashaholics.

The EA8 would is also a great AA light, but already larger - not something you can stick in your pocket.

If you're OK with lithium batteries, than there is a world of other possibilities.

If you want a cheap 14500 or 18650 light you could try the Sipik 68 or Sipik 98, respectively. They make excellent EDC's and very versatile.:) :beer:

1.) He is old school (likes the AA) but if I get a good light, than he better get used to the new batery! :)

2.) Pocket to mid sized, he carries it everywhere for his job.

3.) More throw with some flood(spread)

4.) A mix of both :D but quality is better

5.) Comercial property maintenece, Large parking garages (lots of throw and power)

6.) Good lord, that question... $100-150? (if its that good that I can always reconsider)

7.) Lithium is fiine. I want to give him one with incredible power so screw those AAs

Well then... the only real limitation is size... at $150 you can get a very nice light, or even light & batteries & charger.

Personally I carry an Eagletac G25C2 Mark II. It has excellent throw, but with plenty of flood. Good mode spacing too. My only complaint is that it does not tailstand.

I'm not sure who has the best price on them.

I think the Sipik is a great value light, but quality with Fenix, Eagletac, Armytek, and Nitecore, is on an altogether other level.

Everyone who has not seen a king in action, is usually wowed by it in my experience.

Hey IE Im surprised you havent mentioned the 7G2CS/7G3CS or maybe even the 7G6CS;) The build quality is much better than the sipik and the throw not bad for any of them. Obviously cant compare to a dedicated thrower, but with their flood they are great all rounders and the price is very reasonable...:beer:

I mentioned it in post #6... well linked to it anyway.

Fenix/Eagletac/Nitecore are IMO higher quality. Based on his budgets I figured to go for max quality possible instead.

I think the code for MD is BLF10 or just BLF.

I would really like that King also! However I stumbled into this post on the same site claiming they are not bright, poor quality, and FAKE. Is this true; I have no idea. Please help me on this one. I trust your judgment, and if its only $37 than why not grab one for 2500 lumens :drool:

If you skip to 1:42 you can see how awesome it would be to go from flood to throw in turn of the wrist. That is amazing I think ill just get like 3 of those also for fun at $12 a pop!
 
No reason to not get the Sipik... for the price they are fantastic. I own a couple... I think all flashaholics do.

About the Skyray King, ALL skyray kings are fakes of the Nitecore TM11. Of course the price is somewhat higher on it...

From FastTech so far I have three, and all three worked well, with no modding required. Aside from adding lubricant to the threads I didn't need to do anything with them. When ordering I do ask for them to check it over before sending.

From the main lineup... I would go with the EagleTac P20C2 XP-G2 R5 - less output but will throw further.

Between the Crelants, one is a flooder, the other a thrower. Obviously the 7G6CS is brighter... it's the same LED just driven harder.

I do like the Nitecore MH2C, but suggest you look at the MH25 - the larger reflector means it will throw further.

well, i find it the same price at amazon, but if you really want to buy, i suggest amazon is better choice.
