This will be my first time messing with SLI or Crossfire. This has been sitting at the computer repair shop I work at for quite some time. It was there before I got there. The owner said I could have it. I took it home not knowing what was inside. I just wanted the case. It was obvious the motherboard was inside by just looking at the back. All I need is a hard drive and possibly a power supply. It does boot but the PSU makes buzzing noises.

The CPU is a Core 2 Duo E6400.
2x Nvidia 7900 GS in SLI
3 GB RAM - 2x 512MB and 2x 1GB
DVD ROM and DVD burner

I'll probably toss Vista Home Premium 64 bit on it. If that works, I'll toss the 2x 512 sticks and put 2x 2GB in with the 2x 1GB sticks. The system came with XP MCE 2005. Since the key is legible, I could reinstall that if I wanted too. I have no idea what I'll do with the system. The LED colors are changeable in the BIOS. There are 7 different colors and the option to have them off.

Nice! If it's been sitting for some time, cleaning and reapplying thermal paste to the CPU/heatsink and reseating everything is a good idea. I used to fix/build computers for several years as a hobby. I still have a garage full of stuff and my den looks like an electronic store with all the parts and gadgets all over the place.

The last few systems I built had SLI (or Crossfire) video cards strapped together. I'd strap two together then soon enough the mfg would come out with a card already strapped with two cores and I'd then strap those together effectively giving me four. And so on. It was a lot of fun.

The system was fully torn down and cleaned when I got home. It was full of dust. I installed an OS on a spare 2.5 HD that is sitting around. It seems to work just fine. Now I need to find a 3.5" drive and figure out what to do for an OS.

Sweet score!! I can see why you wanted that case as it is very nice looking.
Several years ago I built about 6 gaming rigs from the ground up. It was fun to do.

wait till you have a system with the latest core i7 octa-core with 4 sli titan.....with lots of RAM.....run 200+processes no problem......accept a over the roof electric bill and you never have to buy a heater for winter...

Just installed Linux Mint 17.3 on that same drive. It works great. Especially considering this is my first time messing with something other that Windows on my own computer. Now I need to find a 3.5" drive to put in it for good.
