Hey everyone, My 1st laser that got me hooked was starting to wear the anodising down so i decided to have a try at Blasting it with a crappy little sandblast gun,

I had a small 2hp Compressor so it was a slow painful process, I made sure to wear a Full face mask for my eyes/respitory!
Its just like how we TELL people to wear goggles when using lasers, well make sure you remove the battery and wear some sealed
eye protection atleast! if you are going to try something similar to what i done here
I only swept over the CREE and Aurora words, as i wanted to keep them on for now, I also gave it a solvent wipe with some Xylene before finishing up

Anyway i just thought i would share this with yous because i was quite proud after i finished, it helps hide scratches and dents better too!,

Hope yous Like!

Re: Blasting My C6!

Nice job! I'll blast mine too if I find the time...

Jim

So many jokes.. hehe.. sry.
Have you gotten static shocked yet!? I used to sandblast my blown glass! Looked great but that many silica particals coming together made the worst/painful static bursts.
Looks really great!

No static shocks for me, I used some rubber coated cotton gloves while doing this,
I might blast a couple of my chinese 532nm lasers just to make them different.

and welcome back Jim, havent seen you around for a bit

Looks nice :)
If you just wanted to strip the black anodizing it would've been easier to put the empty host in a strong base like KOH or NaOH and then polishing it.
Just a tip if sb want to make a shiny host

Yea I thought of a polished approach but I would have had to pull it apart etc, this way I just mask up then spray sand at it, I like the gun grey look to it too, feels nice to hold also,
