For a direct hit or strong reflection your eyes would be better off with goggles.But since you get a 30mW you only get it for visibility, it's not enough to burn, so wearing goggles would make the visibility aspect pointless.Just be careful. Shining it in your eyes would cause instant permanent or prolongued damage(blind spots, partial colour blindness, insensitivity to green,....stuff like that)
yea i have a 20mW and thats pretty bright about 2 inches away on the table, dont ask why i did it, but im gonna go ahead and skip 30mW and go to 50mW, im too poor to buy specs though. either way dont shine it in your eyes, that sorta rule #1
