I want share with you the true 5mW 405 nm laser I have received today. The laser seems to be true low power laser. I know it is not good to take a direct hit from any laser; however, I'm willing to use this laser as a proximity sensor. I have a photo detector that detects only 405 nm making it possible for creating laser distance sensor. I'm currently printing an encloser for the sensor and the laser on my 3D printer . Direct exposure to the beam is highly possible in such application. Some members suggested that a 1mW red laser will be much safer but it is not unique  I refused to wear safety glasses in my robotics lab when measuring the rpm with laser tachometer, I told my professor, I will never wear safety glasses for < 5mW lasers :umbrella:
405nm 5mW Mini Laser Module 8x13mm, AixiZ
Power: < 5mW
Wavelength: 405 nm
Operating Voltage: from 5 to 6V ( 5V seems safer)
