My pointer is kind of old I guess. Here is what I have:

PHR-803T diode

Flex drive @ 105-110 mW

Darkhorse flashlight kit thingy.

Long story short: It stopped working.

I believe it is the diode. Is there a more robust diode that I can use to replace the old one that will run off the old driver? I just want to remove the old one and drop the new one in. No further modifications.

Yes, the flexdrive will run any diode you decide to put in it. Case polarity gets tricky with red and IR though. You should consider one of the new fancy 445nm diodes.

An SF-AW210 diode will cost about $16, and I reckon it'll last near forever at that current (you meant mA instead of mW, didn't you?) Or you could just drop in another PHR. Some are pretty robust; others, not so much.
